Ayresome Primary School HeadStarters, who achieved their HeadStarters Silver award last year, have started working towards the Gold award this week. The mental health champions held a meeting with younger children in their school who had expressed an interest in becoming a HeadStarter to talk to them about the role and to take part in some fun activities.
Peer-to-peer support is a proven way for schools to create sustainable, positive impacts within their community. By HeadStarters passing on their knowledge to new groups, schools have a constant, active group of mental health champions who can support their peers around mental health and emotional wellbeing, raise awareness on key issues and develop projects which have a positive impact on their school community.
