Hello everybody,
I’m writing to tell you about a brand new open-access samba drumming group that Musinc are launching, called Beat It! I would really appreciate your support in spreading word about this new opportunity for young people, families and adults in the Middlesbrough area.
If you haven’t heard of samba before, it’s a Brazilian form of street performance, including lots of costume, dancing & drums – often used in festivals, parades, carnivals etc. It’s an amazing activity to get involved with, regardless of age or ability – as the drums & rhythms you play come in all shapes, sizes & levels of complexity… there’s something for everyone!
Our first 6-week programme is kicking off here at the Town Hall from 5 – 6pm on Monday 31st October. The sessions will be led by our experienced music leader Natasha Graham with support from myself, with the aim to create a short performance to be shared as part of the Town Hall’s Christmas Festival on Sunday 11th December. No prior experience is necessary – just a willingness to get involved, have a go, and make lots of noise!
Through these sessions, you’ll gain an understanding of the different rhythms & grooves involved, gaining confidence & skills that will influence & inspire all your other music making. Best of all, you can book a free taster session to either of first 2 weeks of workshops using the code: SAMBASESSION via the Middlesbrough Town Hall Box Office. Due to technical difficulties, the webpage isn’t currently working properly – but if you call on 01642 729729 – you can book a place for you, your friends and family!
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me directly via email.
With thanks & best wishes,
Rupert
