54 HeadStarters from 5 schools attended our very first ‘HeadStart Activity Morning’. Staff from Linthorpe, St Gerards, Caldicotes, Ayresome and Acklam Grange accompanied the children to the 5th floor of The Live Well Centre, Middlesbrough.
Children had the opportunity to ask questions to the Mayor of Middlesbrough – Andy Preston. Questions around the emotional health of Middlesbrough and what is being done to protect the environment were asked. The Mayor shared some things he does to look after his mental health which included exercise routines and having a good support network of friends and family around him.
Following the question / answer session, children were divided into 3 groups and asked to participate in 3 seperate activities. Children created a peice of art, were consulted around what more could be done to help and support Middlesbrough’s children and young people as well as giving them control of our upcoming HeadStarter Conference event. Lots of ideas, thoughts and feelings were shared between children from the different schools.
We will be collecting further evaluations from the children and staff that attended as we are hoping this will be the first of many similar events.
Thanks to everyone that attended!
