Huge congratulations to Outwood Academy Acklam who have had their HeadStart funding approved after achieving their HeadStart School Standards Silver level award. They are using the funding to create two separate therapeutic spaces; an indoor dedicated space for therapeutic support and interventions and an outside space for vulnerable students who can struggle at social times. The school are delighted to be able to develop these spaces to support students and the school community. “Thanks so much for all of your help with this, it will make a huge difference to our pupils.”
Our Mental Health lead at school commented: ‘Through our engagement with the HeadStart service, we have significantly developed our work in MHWB as a whole school strategy, really digging down into our strategic approach and identifying ways that we can best support our students in the most appropriate way. We have a dedicated MHWB governor who has now been appointed to oversee this strategy. Headstart has also given us a new focus for staff since we had previously focused on provision and solutions. The academic resilience framework that Headstart uses is now giving us the opportunity to look at the roots of the issues.’
Well done Outwood Academy Acklam!
