HeadStart Transition Partnership for NPCAT Schools
As part of the school’s transition offer for next academic year, HeadStarters at Trinity Catholic College will be mentoring Year 7 students from one of their feeder schools St Joseph’s RC Primary School.
The Trinity HeadStarters will undertake the HeadStarters Educational Pathway over the coming half-term to prepare them for their roles helping the new Year 7s to transition into secondary school. This will include focusing on modules including dealing with change, self-care, active listening and communication, stress + anxiety and the teenage brain.
This transition partnership between the two schools, who are under the NPCAT academy umbrella, will see the Trinity HeadStarters using their knowledge as mental health ambassadors to ease the difficulty that a lot of children go through when moving into secondary school. Primary schools see a spike in emotional instability during this time and children can enter Year 7 experiencing increased anxiety and worries.
