The Headstart team have been working with a small group of Y11 girls at Macmillan Academy to support them in understanding and managing anxiety. The programme covers:
What is anxiety?
Body Map exercise -what do we feel/say when we are anxious?
Stress response – fight, flight, freeze
Feelings, thoughts, behaviour
Reframing negative thoughts
Worry control
Stress buckets
Coping tools and strategies
The group are able to share concerns and ideas and develop individual strategies that help them to improve emotional health. In the last session they developed ‘five-a-day’ for your mind to think about how they relax and de-stress and put a ‘smile on their mind’.
