Each group have been so engaging over the 10 weeks learning about the importance of recognising feelings and emotions linking them with how to cope and support each other within school and applying positive wellbeing in their everyday life.
The groups have built up great relationships and created such a fantastic safe space to talk openly and honestly amongst each other about, coping strategies, self-care, friendships, and healthy lifestyle.
The group have also had great discussions around challenging stigma and how to promote positive mental health.
“Headstarters helped me a lot, before the training it was hard to know about feelings. Since doing Headstarters it’s helped me understand people’s feelings looking at facial expressions by body language and listening’ Pupil – Green Gates Primary
“I think Headstarter training is important because if you don’t know about mental health how would we spot it.” Pupil – Green Gates Primary
“Headstart is a positive and supportive place. Being a HeadStarter means the world to me because it helps me and a lot of people be a better person. I can’t describe how much I love HeadStart it is a helpful and calm place to be. I can now listen and understand how other people are feeling. People have two choices, be a bully and get no friends or be a friend to everyone.” pupil – Riverdale Primary
