As part of the HeadStart Whole School offer across South Tees, intervention programmes are offered to our schools to support emotional wellbeing to the groups of pupils who may be struggling and in need of support. One of the interventions is Super You, a 5 week programme to develop pupils’ confidence allowing them to recognise their inner Superhero!
One of our primary schools in Redcar and Cleveland asked the HeadStart Team to support a small group of year 5 pupils with their self-confidence. The group reflected on their skills and abilities, explored positive mindset, recognised how negative thinking affected their thoughts and share kindness to boost each other’s self-esteem.
The group worked on different parts of their superhero each week and then in the final week built themselves into the hero they now believe they are!
Well done year 5!
The programme topics are as follows:
Week 1 – What is confidence?
Week 2 – Positive mindset.
Week 3- Critical Creature (inner negative voice).
Week 4 – How others affect our confidence.
Week 5 – Reflecting on what they have learnt and putting their Superhero posters together.
