Before Christmas, many pupils within 7 Redcar and Cleveland schools achieved the Silver peer mentor award. These pupils will be continuing the work they started with the HeadStart Team and the school’s Mental Health Leads. They have worked together to agree on targets they want to work towards for the school and the children who attend. These pupil peer mentors will spend time catching up with the HeadStart Team ensuring that they are making progress toward these goals. The pupils across Redcar and Cleveland have agreed to a number of projects including setting up pupil led lunchtime clubs that include art, a place to talk, and games. They will be delivering short presentations to classes about mental health especially during national campaign dates, creating and distributing their own newsletter about the work they are doing and how to look after your emotional wellbeing.
The HeadStart team cannot wait for the first review with these pupils as their enthusiasm and creativity are infectious and their passion for wellbeing is outstanding.
Well done to the following schools:
Green Gates Primary School
St Mary’s Catholic Primary School
St Benedict’s Catholic Primary School
