We recently delivered a self-care workshop to a group of teaching assistants at St Bernadette’s. It was a very chilly Monday morning but what better way to start the week than thinking about how we are looking after our own wellbeing and role modelling that to the young people in our school systems.
The self-care workshop covers different approaches and practices we can use as part of a self-care routine and helps us to reflect on healthy boundaries which support our own wellbeing as we manage the pressures and busyness of daily school life. Essentially, it’s about thinking ‘are YOU on your to do list!? Because you matter too!’.
Staff reported that they would take away some of the recommend practices such as gratitude, mind apples (5-a-day for your Mind!), seeking out supportive people and importantly trying to make more time for themselves to feel good!
