Exam season is upon us with everythng maybe feeling a little stressful for our Y6 and Y11 pupils. At HeadStart, we appreciate this is a time children and young people can be feeling under pressure and stressed but it’s important to appreciate that exam seasons in education can also impact teacher wellbeing too. So a friendly nudge from the team here at HeadStart to remember that YOU are important too and your own self-care matters during this time.
It can be helpful to recognise and accept that the exam season might also be stressful for you and consider ways you can navigate through it feeling good!
To help we have some top tips from Young Minds to help you through!
- You can do a lot for a lot of children but sometimes you can’t do it all. If you are struggling to support a student enlist the help of other staff members.
- Remember that all the while you are holding your pupils in mind, tests and exams can be stressful for you too.
- You may feel very emotionally invested in the young people you teach so remember your own self-care routines during this time.
- Make sure you seek out your friends and colleagues and share the challenges of your day.
- Celebrate the end of the tests or exams and celebrate all you have achieved.
