We have recently completed our first ‘Super You’ programme with some year 6 children from Archibald Primary School. The children participated in 6 weekly sessions which were themed all around confidence building, increasing their resilience and boosting their self-esteem. These sessions were typically an hour long and included activitiesaround developing children’s awareness of how they can help each other and themselves. Activities such as creating a kindness bucket, sharing positive messages, and discussing personal strengths were all aimed at increasing confidence and boosting self-esteem. Sessions were informal and children were actively encouraged to share, reflect and be creative throughout the activities.
As the programme is called ‘Super You’, the end activity offers the children their opportunity to create their own superhero T Shirt. Children created their own logos, positive messages and had something that they could use as a reminder of the work they completed.
Claire Dalton Y6 teacher stated “The Super You sessions were vital in helping the children and ready to learn – even more so during a pandemic”
