Super You is a 5 week programme delivered by HeadStart South Tees to develop pupils’ confidence. The sessions are great fun and allow pupils to recognise their inner superhero!
The programme explores what it means to be confident, allows pupils to reflect on their own skills and abilities, recognising how negative thinking can affect their thoughts and how they can build their self-esteem to a greater level.
Many children’s confidence has been negatively impacted by the pandemic and the challenging times faced over the last few years. HeadStart has worked with pupils to identify small, manageable steps that help pupils think and behave more confidently, and believe in themselves and their abilities in a safe, learning environment.
The impact of this programme has been seen across schools. One deputy head shared how, after a meeting with a parent, they all are so pleased that a child attended these sessions as the pupil has shown amazing progress. Before the programme the pupil was extremely worried and anxious, struggling with self-confidence, resulting in them feeling very anxious about coming to school. The parent had described how the pupil was “like a different child who loves coming to school now.” The deputy head also goes on to say “ I really can’t recommend this intervention enough, it really has had such a positive impact on the children who have participated. A massive thank you to Julie for all of her hard work, compassion and empathy with our children! It really makes a difference.”.
The programme topics are as follows, if you are interested, please get in touch with your HeadStart contact to discuss.
