This autumn term has been a great experience as we collaborated with the HeadStart Whole Schools to implement mental health interventions. These programmes have provided pupils with invaluable tools to manage their feelings and speak about their emotions, developing a more open and communicative environment. Seeing students bravely open up about their feelings has been inspiring, as it enhances their emotional literacy and strengthens their self-confidence.
The Team have been working throughout the year groups supporting those in key stage 2 to recognise their abilities and manage their emotions, stage 3 to support transition and adapting to change and stage 4 to manage their stress and build resilience.
By creating safe spaces, we have observed a remarkable shift in how these children and young people perceive and handle their emotions, increasing resilience and connection. The dedication of the Mental Health Leads, teachers, staff, and pupils to prioritise mental health has been truly commendable, and it is heartening to see the positive effects within the school community.
We wish all the schools across South Tees a Merry Christmas and All the Best for 2025!
